DIY Twine Easter Egg Banner

This banner is perfect for Easter, or any time of the year. I’ve hung this garland above my hutch during Easter, and also for birthday parties. The simple steps are fun for kids of any age, making this a wonderful family craft.

Difficulty level: Beginner
Time to complete: 1 hour
Age range: 5 and Up

Things you’ll need:
Water Balloons
Butcher’s twine
Vaseline
1/2 tsp. Craft Glue
Acrylic paints
Scissors
1/4 cup flour
Water

Things to do:
1. The first step is preparing the ingredients. Mix the flower, water, and glue together to create a paste. Once you reach a slightly runny consistency, mix in a color of paint.

2. Blow up a water balloon and apply Vaseline to the outside of it. The Vaseline will keep the string and paste from sticking to the balloon.

3. Cut 3 yards of string and submerge it in the paste mixture until it is completely covered.

4. Find the end of the string and wrap it around the water balloon. Continue wrapping the string until you’ve covered a large portion of the balloon.

5. Allow the balloon and string to dry completely. I’ve found that hanging the balloon from a clothespin works best.

6. Once the paste is dry, pop the balloon and remove any excess waste.

7. After you’ve made several balloons, you can string and hang them up.
