DIY Team Spirit Cheerleader Hair Bow

Celebrate your team by making a hair bow in your team colors! This is an easy method of making a large hair bow, and it’s topped with a cute megaphone.

Difficulty level: Intermediate
Time required: 20 minutes
Age range: 10+

Things you’ll need:
Wide satin ribbon
Narrower grosgrain or satin ribbon
Cheerleading megaphone charms
Hair barrettes
Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Large-eyed needle
Embroidery thread
Scissors

Things to do:
1. Warm up your hot glue gun. Cut both your ribbons to about 30 inches each. Layer the smaller ribbon over the larger ribbon.

2. To keep the ribbons together, dab the hot glue on the ends only, to connect the ribbons while you work. You’ll still have to hold them in your hand, but the glue makes it easier.

3. Thread your needle and knot the end. Set the needle and thread aside. Fold the ribbons in half to find the center. Unfold.

4. Take the right side and loop it toward the center as shown.

5. Take the left side and loop it over the right ribbon as shown.

6. Poke your needle up through the center of the bow and pull the thread through until it stops at the back.

7. Fold up the center like a fan, and bring the thread partially around toward the front.

8. Fold the bottom up and now wrap the thread around the center.

9. Wrap the thread around a few times and tie off in the back.

10. Glue the small plastic megaphone to the center of the bow.

11. Trim the ends of the ribbon tails so they’re even.

12. Hot glue the barrette to the center back of the bow. Share with your favorite little cheerleader!
