DIY Teacher Letter Monogram Plaque

Rather than an apple she can’t keep, give your teacher a wooden plaque featuring the letter of her last name – and a red wooden apple – that she can display in her classroom the whole year! You’ll enjoy painting this in your teacher’s favorite colors, or using our recommendations here.

Difficulty level: Intermediate
Time required: 1 – 1 1/2 hours
Age range: 8+ (younger kids will need help with hot glue gun)

Things you’ll need:
Unfinished wooden letter or other letters of your choice
Unfinished wooden apple
Red acrylic paint
Cool blue acrylic paint
Black marker
Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Ribbon
Pencil for decoration

Things to do:
1. Paint the top of your wooden letter with the blue paint.

2. Paint the top, sides and bottom with the blue paint as well.

3. Paint the top and sides of the apple.

4. Warm up your hot glue gun. Cut the ribbon to 12-15 inches long. Tie the ribbon onto the eraser end of the pencil and hot glue it in place so it doesn’t slide around.

5. Tie the ribbon into a bow and trim the ends.

6. If desired, use the black marker to create black polka dots on the letter once it has dried.

7. After the apple has dried, hot glue it in place on top of your letter.

8. Hot glue the pencil with the ribbon onto the apple, at an angle that will look pleasing with the particular letter you’ve chosen. If desired, add a hook to the back or leave the plaque as a free-standing decoration. Give it to your favorite teacher!
