DIY Tea Towel Apron

I’m a sucker for a pretty tea towel and I have amassed quite a collection. Some of the prettiest I tend not to use as towels, but I’d like to have them out for use still and this project turns a simple tea towel into a pretty, serviceable apron that can be easily altered to fit an adult or a child.

Difficulty level: Moderate
Time required: 20 minutes

Things you’ll need:
Tea towel
Scissors
Iron
Sewing machine and notions
Ribbon

Things to do:
1. Fold the two corners of one narrow end of the towel at 45 degree angles and press.

2. Trim away most of the excess from the corner of the fold, leaving enough to fold under into a hem. Press the hem.

3. Cut a length of ribbon long enough to comfortably around your neck.
4. Pin the ribbon between the beginning of the two folds and stitch along the folds, across the top to secure the ribbon, and down the other fold.
5. Cut two lengths of ribbon long enough to tie the sides of the apron around your back.
6. Loop the apron around your neck and pin the ribbons where your natural waist is. Take the apron off and sew the ribbons in place. Trim all threads before wearing.
