DIY Rustic Twine and Doily Christmas Ornaments

Don’t settle for plain, boring ornaments! And you don’t have to spend hours making your own, either. For a rustic look, try these twine and crochet ornaments. For added sheen, coat with Mod Podge, but you can also leave them uncoated.

Difficulty level: Intermediate
Time required: 15 minutes
Age range: 10+

Things you’ll need:
Hemp twine
Ball ornament
Crocheted doilies
Mod Podge *Optional
Hot glue gun and hot glue sticks

Things to do:
1. Warm up your hot glue gun. Keep the twine on the roll and glue one end to the top of the ornament.

2. Keep winding the twine and gluing it around the ornament. You don’t have to glue it completely, but you’ll have to tack it down with glue about once a row.

3. Continue until you’ve completely wrapped the ornament with the twine. Set the ornament aside.

4. Cut the centers from four or five small crochet doilies.

5. You’ll only be gluing the centers to the ornament, so you can use the outer pieces for another project.

6. When you’ve finished gluing the doily centers down, you may choose to brush the ornament with Mod Podge, or leave it as is.
