This project makes the perfect gift for a young child. Make a custom memory game with log slices and a wood-burning tool. They’ll love to play this timeless game with a set handmade with love just for them!
Difficulty level: Beginner
Time to complete: 1 Hour
Age range: 13 and Up
Things you’ll need:
Small birch wood slices
Wood burning tool
Pencil
Jute
Things to do:
1. The first step is picking a theme for your memory game. For this set, I’m going to do a woods” theme. Once you’ve picked a theme, draw your shapes onto the surface of the wood slices using a pencil. Draw each shape twice, so you have a pair of matches.
2. Choose a mid-sized tip for the wood-burning tool. This tip is small enough to create a precise line, but large enough to make it really stand out against the wood surface.
3. Once the wood-burning tool is heated, use it to trace over your pencil designs.
4. Once you’ve finished burning all 10 matches, you’re ready to package your memory game. Use a small wood box or mason jars for easy storage.
