DIY River Rock Trivet

Looking for a rainy day project to do with your older kids? This river rock trivet is the perfect activity! In a few simple steps, you can create a mini-mosaic of river rocks that has a decorative and practical purpose in your home. Let your children’s imaginations run wild as they combine stones and different colors and shapes of felt to create unique hot pads.

Difficulty level: Beginner
Time to complete: 30 Minutes
Age range: 12 and Up

Things you’ll need:
Felt
Rocks
Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Scissors

Things to do:
1. Start by prepping your felt. Fold a piece in half, creating a center crease. Cut down the line with your scissors, creating a straight edge for your rectangle shape. This will serve as the base for your hot pad. (Feel free to get creative and try other shapes too!)

2. Use hot glue to secure rocks to the front of the felt. The smoother the rocks, the better. Apply them in a puzzle-like pattern, fitting them together to create a solid look.

3. Allow adequate time to dry and enjoy your trivet!
