DIY Ribbon Gift Bow

There’s no need to buy expensive package bows at the store, when it’s easy and quick to make beautiful ones from scratch! You’ll be amazed at how fast these are to make – and you’ll soon be making package bows for every gift you give!

Difficulty level: Easy
Time required: 15 minutes
Age range: 8+

Things you’ll need:
Wired ribbon
Floral wire
Large paper clip
Scissors
Measuring device (ruler, yardstick, measuring tape)

Things to do:
1. Decide how wide you want your package bow to be. Multiply this by 9, and add 6 more inches to your total. For instance, if you want the bow to be 5″ wide, you’ll cut your ribbon to 61 inches.

2. Fold one side to half the measurement of the final bow size, plus a bit more so the center will be caught” in the wire later. Fold the other side up as shown. The length from the end of one loop to the end of the other should equal the final size of your bow.

3. Repeat Step 3, except you no longer have to make room for the loose end at the center.

4. Repeat two more times, for a total of 4 layers of loops.

5. Place a paper clip at the center to hold the package bow loops in place.

6. Cut your wire to about 12″ long. Tie it around the center once, after removing the paper clip.

7. Hold the ends of the wire and twist the bow several times with the other hand to secure the wire.

8. Pull the loops from side to side until the package bow is a shape you like.

9. Trim the long end.

10. This is what your package bow looks like when complete! Your gift recipient will feel very special.
