DIY Quick Knotted Necklace

I love the look of those big bead necklaces that are floating around the fashion world these days, I think I’d even like to have one in every color, and as it turns out, they couldn’t be easier to make. You’ll want to choose the thickness of your thread based on the opening in your beads, for large openings, double up the thread, for smaller holes, split the embroidery thread into individual strands.

Things you’ll need:
Embroidery Thread
Large Round Beads
Small piece of heavy cardboard or thin wood as wide as you want your beads spaced
Thin needles

Things to do:
1. Cut two pieces of string three times the length that you want your finished necklace.

2. About three inches down from one end, tie a strong double knot. Thread each string (or doubled string) onto a needle.
3. Thread first one needle and string and then the next through the hole of one bead and draw it to the end. Pull it down firmly against the knot and tie another double knot at the other end of the bead.

4. Hold the cardboard or wood spacer against the last knot between the two strands and tie a third double knot.

5. Thread on the next bead and repeat until you have beaded the entire length of the necklace. Add a clasp or trim thread ends and simply open the threads between two beads and loop over the last bead from the other end to close the necklace.
