DIY Pottery Barn Inspired Decorative Ball Table Display

I originally made this display for the picnic table on the deck, but it almost immediately made it’s home on my kitchen counter! The basket is made from chicken wire or you could use any wire or wicker basket to hold the ornaments.

Difficulty level: Easy
Time required: 1 hour
Age range: Teen and up (due to use of glue)

Things you’ll need:
3- 2 1/2″ Styrofoam balls
3- 2″ Styrofoam balls
Brown twig grapevine balls
Dried dark green reindeer moss
Tiny natural wood slice table scatters
Miniature red pip berry garland
Brown cord string lights
Brown acrylic paint
Paintbrush
E6000 glue
Twine
Scissors
Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Toothpicks
Box lid or piece of foam

Things to do:
1. Begin by placing a toothpick in each of the 2 1/2″ Styrofoam balls. Use toothpick as a handle while painting each one with brown paint. Poke toothpick into a box lid or flat piece of foam to let paint dry.

2. Meanwhile, coat a section of a 2″ Styrofoam ball with E6000 glue and cover with reindeer moss. Continue until entirely covered. Repeat for other 2″ balls. Wrap each one randomly with twine and tie off. Trim ends as desired.

3. After brown paint is dry, use a toothpick to spread E6000 glue over brown paint. Place wood table scatters side by side until entirely covered. Repeat for other 2 1/2″ balls.

4. When glue is dry, arrange the grapevine, moss, and wood slice balls in your choice of basket. Intertwine the pip berry garland and the string lights so that it is appealing to you.
