DIY Paper Fortune Cookies

Everybody loves fortune cookies. There’s something just a little magical about finding a wish or prediction hidden in it’s folds. But who says fortunes are just for cookies? These cute little paper fortune cookies are a snap to make, easy to mass produce for an event and customizable to the color scheme of your choice (and bonus! Zero calories!) To make your circles, trace a cup, bowl or plate that’s roughly half the size of the cookie cutter you are after or use a circle paper punch for even faster production.

Difficulty level: Easy
Time required: less than 5 minutes

Things you’ll need:
Lightweight paper (origami paper works well)
Circle template or circle punch
Strips of paper
Scissors
Extra fine marker
Craft glue

Things to do:
1. Trace and cut out or punch your circles.

2. Write messages on strips of paper that are a bit shorter than the diameter of your circle. Trim the ends to reverse points for a decorative effect.
3. Fold the circle in half but only crease along the ends, not the middle.

4. Holding the rounded edge together with one hand, gently press the center of the fold toward the rounded edge, drawing the creased edges of the fold together.

5. Once you have your folds made, open the circle back up and place the “fortune” inside and refold.

6. Add a dab of glue where the folded ends meet to hold them together.
