DIY Hydrangea Wreath

Hydrangeas are probably my favorite flower. I love how they start out green in the spring, turn blue and purple as the summer unfolds and then shift into rusty bronzy colors as fall arrives. They are always the perfect colors for the season at hand and they are arguably at their best in the fall, their blowsy, bold colors so beautiful. Perfect for a fall wreath. This wreath uses the beauty of hydrangeas and the lasting power of artificial flowers to add a gorgeous finishing touch to your fall front door decor.

Difficulty level: Moderate
Time required: 1 hour

Things you’ll need:
12-15 bunches of hydrangea blossoms in red, orange and purple
Wire wreath form
Green flora ribbon
Yellow ribbon
Hot glue gun and glue sticks

Things to do:
1. Fold the end of the green ribbon around one of the outside wires of the wreath. Add a drop of glue and press to secure the end to the wreath.

2. Wrap the ribbon around the wreath, overlapping a little each time you wrap.

3. Attach a loop of yellow ribbon to the wreath with hot glue, this will later be used for hanging the wreath.
4. Pull the flower punches off their stems, you’ll be glue these to the wreath by tucking them into the overlapping sections of ribbon. Dab glue on the end of the flower stems and tuck it into the overlap in the ribbon. Repeat with another bunch of the same color parallel to the other bunch. You’ll want to use two or three bunches of each color together in each section.

5. Once you’ve place the first set of bunches, switch colors and repeat the process. Repeat again with the third color.

6. Repeat these three colors around the wreath until the wreath is full.
