DIY Gold and Silver Dusted Candles

Candlelight is key to my happiness in the depths of winter. It’s flickering glow helps chase the doldrums away when the sky is grey and cheerless. And adding a little sparkle and shine to those candles makes them even more happy inducing! These gold and silver dusted candles make a beautiful addition to your winter decor and also make a lovely (and oh so simple to whip up) hostess gift.

Difficulty level: Easy
Time required: 5 minutes plus dry time

Things you’ll need:
Taper candles
Gold and/or silver spray paint
Box or well covered work surface

Things to do:
1. In a well ventilated work area, set your candle, bottom end down, on the box bottom at about a 45 degree angle.

2. Lightly spray the candle in short bursts, running from the bottom of the candle up toward the middle, but only spraying about 1/3 of the way up. You want the spray to be lighter toward the top of the painted area and heavier at the base.

3. Turn and repeat until you have painted all the way around.
4. Stand the candles on end, paint end down, and allow them to dry before using.
