DIY Glue Snowflakes

DIY_Glue_Snowflakes
I’m always looking for simple holiday crafts to do with the kids. And Ornaments are always a hit, so this project, which uses very basic craft supplies, was quite the hit in our home. It’s the perfect project for a stay inside cold December day.

Things you’ll need:
School glue
Wax paper
Paper and pen
Crystal glitter or other colors of your choice
Needle and thread

Things to do:
1. Draw basic snowflake shapes onto the paper using a pen or marker. Keep them simple, especially for young children.

2. Lay the wax paper over the snowflake template and tape or hold it in place.
3. Following the lines of the template, draw lines of glue onto the wax paper.

4. Sprinkle generously with glitter and allow the glue to dry overnight.

5. Once dry, peel the snowflakes up and thread a hanger through the top using the needle and thread.

  1. nice didnt think to do this with PVA glue, A safer option for the kids to have a go at. I do this with hot glue that has glitter already in it )

  3. These are so lovely in their simplicity, I will be making some with my grandchildren. They love to do crafts, and these are the only snowflakes theyll see in Florida. Thank you for another beautiful idea that has gotten me excited about crafting again. Merry Christmas!

  4. You can also use epsom salts if you dont have glitter, same effect looks just like snow only not quite as sparkly

  5. This is very cool. I work at a school with amazing kids with special needs and this would be easy to do with them and beautiful at the same time! Thanks for sharing!

  6. I still have the large one we made during hmscl days many yrs ago! Nice keepsake ornament. It could not have been too hard to do since my kids were not v arty as I recall.

    1. You can buy the puffy paint you use on fabrics and use a ziploc as the thing between the design and the paint… works like a charm. My 6 year old loves making them. All my windows are covered in snowflakes of the rainbow! 🙂

  7. Can you tell me where you found the templates for your snowflakes? Im having the hardest time finding them.

    1. We used this s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/1e/08/c0/1e08c084ad76ea7cd118c6a1dc9ed66b.jpg template and it worked great. It gives you a bunch of different designs. I hope this helps Bethany. Happy crafting!

      1. I cant figure out where to start on the link you gave above to find the snowflake template. Can you please help and give a more specific link. Thank you

  8. Glitter glue also works instead of the glue. The glitter in the glitter glue gives a nice look, but the separate glitter would give it more of a snowy look. Great craft! I love it! The final product looks nice hanging in front of my windows.
