Difficulty level: Intermediate
Time required: 30+ Mins
Age range: 12+

Things you’ll need:
Felt
PVA glue or hot glue and glue sticks
Ruler
Scissors or rotary cutter and cutting mat
Jute twine *optional

Things to do:
1. Cut the felt into strips. The width will determine the height of your coasters. Using a rotary cutter and cutting mat makes the task much easier, but is not necessary.
2. Once your strips are cut, begin to coil your felt. For a tighter coaster, use PVA clue and run it along your thread as you coil. You can also choose to hot glue each piece of felt only at the beginning and end, though you must keep your coil pulled tightly.
3. Continue to coil using different colors and lengths of felt to your preference, until you have reached our desired size of coaster.
4. Optional: Wrap jute twine on the outer layer of your coaster, using a tiny dot of hot glue on the beginning and end to keep it securely attached.

Tip: To create a more “felted” style coaster, use a balled up piece of tin foil and gently “scrub” it on the top of your coaster. This gives your felt a woolier, more felted look, without going through the process of felting.
