DIY Felt Heart Bookmark

I’m a big fan of giving books as gifts. As a book lover myself, it’s really the best option for a present in my mind. And of course if I’m giving a book, I’m also going to need to give a special bookmark to go with it! This felt heart bookmark is a fun, soft alternative to the normal paper variety and is a great project for a child to undertake, making it an extra special present.

Difficulty level: Easy
Time required: 15 minutes

Things you’ll need:
Felt – color of your choice
Embroidery thread
Embroidery needle
Scissors
Grosgrain ribbon

Things to do:
1. Cut four hearts out of the felt, sized to be at least an inch across but they can be bigger.

2. Thread your needle with the embroidery floss and knot one end and cut a 12-inch length of ribbon.
3. Sandwich two hearts together with one end of the ribbon in between.

4. Insert your needle into one of the hearts from the inside, near the edge so the knot is hidden inside the sandwich of felt.
5. Using a running stitch, sew around the edge of the heart, trapping the ribbon inside and holding the layers of felt together. Knot and trim the ends.

6. Repeat with the other end of the ribbon to complete the bookmark.
