DIY Felt Flower Keychain

Give this cute felt flower keychain as a gift or party favor, or keep for yourself! You’ll want to make these in many different colors. You can sew this on your sewing machine or by hand – or you can even decide just to use hot glue for a no-sew project.

Difficulty level: Intermediate
Time required: 45 minutes
Age range: 10+

Things you’ll need:
Flower template
Key ring
Felt sheets
Narrow grosgrain ribbon
Embroidery thread
Scissors
1 or 2 buttons
Needle with large eye
Sewing pins
Sewing machine and regular sewing notions
Hot glue gun and hot glue sticks *optional

Things to do:
1. Print your template [key chain flower copy.pdf] and cut it out. Trace it twice onto your felt for two flowers. For the flower centers, trace the key ring. Cut out all of the pieces.

2. Sew or glue the centers to the both flowers.

3. This is what it looks like once you’ve sewn both. I’ve used a basic running stitch here, but you can use any embroidery stitch you’d like.

4. Cut a piece of ribbon to 3″ long and loop around the key ring as shown.

5. Pin the ribbon inside both flower shapes, making sure the flowers are wrong-sides together.

6. Sew the flowers together on machine, by hand, or simply use hot glue.

7. Once sewn, the flower will still be a little bare – so add a button or other embellishment to the center as desired.
