Difficulty level: Easy
Time required: 1 hour (includes drying time)
Age range: 8+ (children will need help with the hot glue gun)

Things you’ll need:
Unfinished wooden spool
Red rattail cord
Red acrylic paint
Paintbrush
Scissors
Paper
Hot glue gun and hot glue sticks

Things to do:
1. Paint your spool in the middle and on both ends. Allow it to dry.

2. Warm up your hot glue gun and hot glue. Measure the space between the spool ends. Cut a piece of paper to this width (in this case, it’s 2 1/4″) by 11″ long. Write some gift ideas on the paper, as shown.

3. Hot glue the end of the paper to the middle of the spool.

4. Roll the scroll” across the spool as shown.

5. Hot glue the scroll in place on the spool, so the remainder hangs free.

6. Cut the rattail cord to serve as a hanger. Slide it through the holes in the spool

7. Double knot the cord at the top. Hang up your ornament and enjoy!
