DIY Colored Paper Doily Bunting

Doilies have the unique ability, I think, of looking both elegant and casual at the same time, adding just a little bit more pretty to whatever setting they are in, and this bunting is no exception. Simply made, this project layers two sizes and two (or more) colors of buntings to create a textured, pretty effect, just perfect for you next party or event.

Time required: 20 minutes plus dry time
Difficulty level: Moderate

Things you’ll need:
Large and small paper doilies
Spray paint
Bakers twine
Glue stick

Things to do:
1. On a covered and well ventilated work surface, lightly spray paint half of each size of your doilies. Spray paint works best here because it doesn’t dampen the paper enough to make it curl but coats well with color. Once the paint is dry apply a second thin coat. Allow them to dry thoroughly.

2. Measure out your bakers twine to cover the space you need and add a few inches extra to each side for tying.
3. Fold one large and one small, each a different color, exactly in half.

4. Spread glue stick on the underside of the smaller doily and fold it over the larger one, centering it.

5. Apply glue stick to one half of the larger doily. Fold it over the twine at one end (allowing enough extra for hanging) and press to make sure the two sides stick well to each other.
6. Repeat this process, this time switching the colors of the doilies.

7. Continue to alternate colors until you have reached the end of your twine. Allow the glue to dry before hanging.
