DIY Collection Jar Lamp

My kids have a habit of collecting. Actually, I should come clean and say that our family has a habit of collecting. We’re all participants. Little collections are scattered through out our house- tree burls, sea shells, pretty rocks, horse chestnuts in the fall lined up along a window, pinecones replacing them in the winter. We collect. And we display. Sometimes there are too many things to display for just the shelves and walls, so why not turn a collection into a lamp with this simple project?

Difficulty level: Beginner
Time required: less than five minutes

Things you’ll need:
Clear small mouth mason jar or blue small mouth mason
Small mouth mason jar lamp kit
Collection of little things
Lamp shade and bulb

Things to do:
1. Make sure the lamp fits your jar and clean the jar inside and out. Let it dry before proceeding.

2. Fill the jar all the way to the brim with the small pieces of your collection, here we have used Legos but you could use stones, buttons, nuts, shells or anything else that strikes your fancy and will fit into a jar. Remember you can use a big or a small jar here, as long as it fits the lamp kit.

3. Attach the lamp kit to the jar by threading it on, add a bulb and shade and away you go displaying that collection.
