Upcycle: DIY Barn Stars

Just in time for summer festivities, here’s a way to turn your empty cereal boxes into 3-D stars reminiscent of New England barn and porch decor. While we went with a simple silver, these can we customized for any style or occasion with a few licks of paint.

Things you’ll need:
Empty cereal boxes
Star template
Scissors or craft knife and cutting board
Bone folder
Ruler

Things to do:
1. Trace or transfer the star shape onto the cardboard and cut it out with the scissors or craft knife.

2. Using the ruler, score a line from each point strait down to the center of the opposite pair of legs with the bone folder. Once you have finished you should have a center point where all the lines cross.

3. Fold each short part of the line in and each long part of the line out to pull the star out. Crease the folds well.
4. Coat with paint and allow it to dry before displaying.
