Copper and Fabric Branches

Once it gets truly cold outside and even the mums have faded away from the garden, it’s nice to still have flowers around the house to cheer things up. These fabric and copper wire branches are a fun twist on artificial flowers and can be used in bunches on their own or mixed in with other bouquets, both of the real and fake variety.

Things you need:
Home decorator weight fabric, about 1/4 yard
12 gauge orange wire
Multi-tool (or needle nose pliers and wire cutters)
Sewing machine and notions
Pinking shears

Things to do:
1. Cut leaves out of your fabric with the pinking shears, two for each leaf you want to end up with.

2. Stitch around the edge of the leaf leaving a 1/4-inch seam allowance along the edges.

3. Slip the end of the wire in at one of the tips of the leaf, easing it in between the stitches. Push the wire up to the opposite tip and trim the exposed end to the length you desire.
4. Bend the leaves to suit and group them together or insert them into your usual flower arrangements.
