DIY Dried Orange and Faux Cranberry Garland

Sometimes, when it comes to Christmas decorations, simple really is best. Instead of glittery and fancy, why not go for wholesome and old fashion? This garland evokes the timeless colors and scents of the season with orange slices and cranberries but without the problem of cranberries going bad over time. Store the garland flat between sheets of bubble wrap to protect the dried oranges between the seasons. Look for thick-rinded oranges that are nice and orange for the best results in drying.

Difficulty level: Easy
Time required: 2 hours

Things you’ll need:
Oranges
Knife and cutting board
Parchment paper and cookie sheet
Red wooden beads
Hemp twine

Things to do:
1. Slice the oranges into even, thin slices and lay them out on the parchment covered baking sheet. Slip them into an oven on it’s lowest setting (around 200 degrees) and cook for about an hour before flipping. Cook another 30 minutes or until the oranges are dry.
2. Once the orange slices are cool, begin threading the garland. Six beads then an orange slice, repeating until you have the length of garland you are after.
