Burlap and Lace Stocking

Rustic and Elegant at the same time, this burlap and lace stocking takes almost not time at all to put together, making it ideal for gift giving or last minute holiday guests. If your burlap is wrinkles, trying wetting the material well and smoothing it onto a flat protected surface, allow it to dry flat, pressing and smoothing occasionally as needed.

Things you’ll need:
Burlap fabric sheet
2-inch wide lace
Sewing machine and notions
Scissors

Things to do:
1. Lay the burlap, doubled, on a flat cutting surface.
2. Trace or freehand cut a basic stocking shape, making it slightly longer at the top than the finished project should be.

3. Lay the lace across the top of the front stocking piece, slightly down from the edge. Fold the excess burlap under so that it is hidden by the lace. Stitch along the top and bottom edge of the lace.
4. Fold a 4-inch piece of lace in half lengthwise and then width-wise to create a loop.

5. Lay the sticking pieces together, right sides out, tucking the loop of lace between the layers at the top corner of the stocking. Stitch along the side, down around the heel and toe and back up to the top to finish. Trim all of your threads and any fly-aways on the burlap.
