How to Make a Beach Theme Mesh Wreath

It’s almost summer! And where I live that means it’s getting close to beach time! Even if you can’t actually hit the sand, beach theme decor is a great way to create a relaxed, playful atmosphere in your home and this mesh wreath is a fun focal point for this style.

Difficulty level: Easy to moderate
Time required: 30 minutes

Things you’ll need:
Wreath form (click here to learn how to make your base wreath)
Mesh in beachy colors such as turquoise, burlap, and natural
Shell garland
Beach sign
Fish net
Pipe cleaners
Scissors

Things to do:
1. Starting with your widest mesh, bunch the very end and secure it to the inner ring of the wreath by tightly twisting one of the ties around the end, leaving the tails up when you are done.

2. Allow for enough length for some good bunching and bunch the mesh again, attaching it to the next tie on the inner ring. Repeat this process until you have reached the tie you started with.

3. Once you have gone all the way around, move to the outer ring without cutting the mesh. Continue to secure the mesh to the wreath with enough space for bunching. When you have reached the last tie, trim the mesh and secure as you did with the first one.

4. Repeat this entire process with your next mesh roll. Continue this process with all colors of your mesh and use the same process to attach your fish netting, treating it as a wide, loose mesh.

5. Once you have the mesh attached to the wreath, flip the form over and pull all the tails of the pipe cleaners to the backside. Twist the tightly and trim away ends as needed.

6. Now that the base of your wreath is done, it’s time to add the details! Cut pipe cleaners in half to make small ties. Secure the shell garland at regular intervals around the wreath using the shorter pipe cleaner ties.

7. Using a short tie, secure the hanger for the beach sign to the wreath so that the sign sits slightly off center on one side of the wreath.
