Thumbprint Balloon

Sometimes you need a little lift in your life. This sweet little project is a great way to add something cheerful to your space and to save a keepsake of the little fingers in your life.

Things you’ll need:
Inkpads or markers
Canvas or heavy cardstock
Fine black marker
Pencil
Bowl

Things to do:
1. Lightly trace around the bowl on the top half of the canvas. This will be a guide for your circle of balloons.

2. Fill the circle with little finger and thumb prints, all going generally the same directions, to create the balloons.

3. Use your black marker to add the “strings” and, if desired, a bow and a message.

4. Once the ink is totally dry, carefully erase the pencil line.

DIY Thumbprint Keepsakes

Here’s a way to create a memento of your little ones fingers that will look like something fancier than it really is. And all it takes is a little air dry clay.

Things you’ll need:
Air dry clay (make your own!)
Toothpick or knitting needle
Silver acrylic paint
Paintbrush

Things to do:
1. Pull off a tablespoon or so of clay and work it in your hand until it’s smooth and pliable. Roll it into a smooth ball and then flatten in slightly with your palm.

2. Press your little one’s finger into the center of the clay disk firmly but not so it presses through.

3. Use the knitting needle or toothpick to create a hole near the top of the tag. Allow the clay to dry completely.

4. On a covered work surface, paint the tag with two or three coats of silver paint, allowing each coat to dry before adding the next. String from a ribbon to wear close to your heart.
